소노아트sonoart는 6월 기획전으로 박정혁 작가의 개인전 《낯선 위엄Unfamiliar Dignity》을 시작 합니다. 작가의 그간 작품들은 다양한 매체들을 거치며 이미지의 생성과 조합에 개성이 들어났습니다.
박정혁의 작품들에는 도드라진 “낯섬”이 있습니다. ‘낯설다Unfamiliar’는 ‘전에 본적이 없어 익숙하지 않은’ 풀이를 지닌 단어로, 작가가 작품에서 형성한 새로운 이미지 구연이 이전에 경험되지 않은 조합에서 출발했음을 말합니다. 이 낯섬은 또한 위엄을 지녔습니다. 그간 그리스 신화의 도상이 표출되거나. 익숙한 줄거리가 읽히는 성서의 도상이 나오곤 했던 줄거리에서 작가는 자기 안으로의 내면을 읽어 내고 있습니다. 축적된 무수한 이야기들이 스스로에게 묻는 질문으로 던져지는 작품들이 전시될 예정입니다. 관객을 압도하는 거친 감정의 억압이 물 속을 부유하는 타원형의 형상과 물 표면의 세밀한 표현 등으로 변이되었습니다. 그러기에 이번 ‘Park’s Land'는 그간의 축적된 레이어가 구축된 박정혁의 세계관을 대변한다고 봅니다.
시간이 쌓여 층위를 만들어 내는 단단함에는 깊이가 있습니다. 얇은 층위의 표면으로는 흉내 낼 수 없는 가치가 있기에 그렇다고 봅니다. 작가 박정혁의 작품들에는 그러한 단단함이 있습니다. 《낯선 위엄Unfamiliar Dignity》은 그런 전시입니다. 여러분들과 ‘낯선 위엄’을 함께 하고자 합니다.
Unfamiliar Dignity_ Park Jung-hyuk Solo Exhibition (June 11 – June 27)
Sonoart is pleased to present Unfamiliar Dignity, a solo exhibition by artist Park Jung-hyuk, as our curated exhibition for June. Throughout his career, Park’s work has spanned various media, standing out for its unique way of generating and combining images.
There is a distinct sense of "unfamiliarity" in Park’s work. The word 'unfamiliar' means something we haven’t seen before, suggesting that the new imagery the artist creates stems from combinations never experienced until now. Yet, this unfamiliarity also carries a certain dignity. While his past narratives often featured Greek mythological iconography or familiar biblical storylines, the artist is now reading into his own interiority. The upcoming exhibition will showcase works where countless accumulated stories are transformed into questions directed at the self.
The raw, overwhelming suppression of emotion has mutated into floating oval shapes in water and meticulous expressions of the water's surface. In this sense, we believe this installment of 'Park’s Land' represents the artist's definitive worldview, built upon the layers accumulated over time.
There is a profound depth in the solidity that time creates as it piles up layer by layer. This is because there is an irreplaceable value that cannot be mimicked by a thin, superficial surface. The works of Park Jung-hyuk possess exactly that kind of solidity. Unfamiliar Dignity is an exhibition that embodies this very essence.
